INGREDIENTS


Bloody Brain Cake
Servings - 3 - 4

INGREDIENTS
All purpose flour - 400 grams
Cocoa powder - 2 tablespoons
Powdered sugar - 600 grams
Butter - 170 grams
Oil - 50 milliliters
Eggs - 4
Vanilla extract - 1 1/2 teaspoon
Milk - 330 milliliters
Vinegar - 1 1/2 teaspoons
Baking soda - 1 1/2 teaspoon
Organic food color - 2 teaspoons
Sugar syrup
Whipped cream
White fondant
Jam - 2 tablespoons
Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Organic food color - 1/2 teaspoon

PREPARATION


1. In a mixing bowl, add 400 grams all purpose flour, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder and mix well to combine.
2. In a another mixing bowl add 600 grams powdered sugar, 170 grams butter, 150 milliliters oil and mix it well.
3. Add 4 eggs and beat the well.
4. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, all purpose flour mixture, 330 milliliters milk into parts and beat them well to make a thick batter.
5. In a bowl, add 1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar and add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda and mix well.
6. Add this mixture into the batter, add 2 teaspoons organic food color and mix well to combine.
7. Pour the batter into a bowl covered with butter paper.
8. Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C. Bake for 45 minutes.
9. Remove the cake from oven and remove the butter paper from it.
10. Shape the cake into a brain and apply some sugar syrup.
11. Spread some whipped cream on cake base and put cake on it.
12. Apply some whipped cream on cake and refrigerate it for 1 hour.
13. Then apply another thin layer of whipped cream to really get the fondant to stick.
14. Use white fondant rolled into tubes to create the wavy pattern of the human brain, approximately 1cm in diameter. Use your paring knife, or a scalpel, to trim your fondant tubes and fit them in place. (See Video)
15. In a bowl add 2 tablespoons jam, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon organic food color and microwave it for 1 minute.
16. Then paint the jam onto your brain cake.
17. Serve.
