Chicken - 850 grams
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
Lemon juice - 2 teaspoons
Oil - 1 teaspoon
Poppy seeds - 1 teaspoon
Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon
Cloves - 4 pods
Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
Coriander seeds - 1 tablespoon
Fennel seeds - 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
Black peppercorns - 1/2 teaspoon
Dry red chili - 3
Star anise - 1
Garlic - 1/2 tablespoon
Onions - 100 grams
Fresh coconut - 40 grams
Dry coconut - 20 grams
Oil - 2 tablespoons
Onions - 100 grams
Red chili - 1 teaspoon
Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
Water - 6 tablespoons, divided
PREPARATION
1. In a mixing bowl, add 850 grams chicken, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 2 teaspoons lemon juice and mix it well.
2. Marinate the chicken for 1 hour.
3. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a pan, add 1 teaspoon poppy seeds, 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, 4 pods cloves, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 tablespoon coriander seeds, 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds, 1 inch cinnamon stick, 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns, 3 dry red chili, 1 star anise and saute for 2 - 3 minutes.
4. Add 1/2 tablespoon garlic, 100 grams onions and fry till translucent.
5. Now, add 40 grams fresh coconut, 20 grams dry coconut and mxi it well.
6. Cook for 3 - 5 minutes.
7. Transfer this into a blender and blend it into a paste. Keep aside.
8. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pot, add 100 grams onions and fry till translucent.
9. Now, add the marinated chicken in it and mix it well.
10. Add 1 teaspoon red chili, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala, 3 tablespoons water and mix it again.
11. Cover it with lid and cook for 10 - 12 minutes.
12. Open the lid, add the blended mixture, 3 tablespoons water and mix it well.
13. Again cover it with lid and cook for 6 - 8 minutes or till the chicken is cooked through.
14. Open the lid and stir well.
15. Serve hot.
