Chatpati Masoor Dal

INGREDIENTS
Water - 1 litre
Whole red lentils - 220 grams
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
Dry mango powder - 2 teaspoons
Ghee - 3 tablespoons
Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
Dry red chili - 2
Onions - 100 grams
Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon
Green chili - 1 1/2 teaspoons
Tomato - 110 grams
Red chili powder -1 teaspoon

 

PREPARATION

 
1. Wash the whole red lentil thoroughly and drain the water.
2. Pour 1 litre water in a skillet, add 220 grams whole red lentils, add 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon turmeric and mix well.
3. Boil the dal till done.
4. Add 2 teaspoons dry mango powder in the dal and mix well.
5. Take a pan and add 3 tablespoons ghee, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 2 dry red chili, 100 grams onions, 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida, 1 1/2 teaspoon green chili, and fry till golden brown.
6. Add 110 grams tomato, 1 teaspoon red chili powder and cook for few seconds.
7. Transfer the mixture over the dal and mix well
8. Garnish with coriander leaves.
9. Serve hot with rice.
