INGREDIENTS

(For Dough)

Gram flour - 150 grams

All purpose flour - 75 grams

Salt - 1/4 teaspoon

Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon

Asafoetida - 1/8 teaspoon

Oil - 45 milliliters

Water - 80 milliliters

(For Spice Mix)

Oil - 1 teaspoon

Cumin - 1 teaspoon

Fennel seeds - 3 teaspoons

Coriander seeds - 2 teaspoons

Asafoetida - 1/8 teaspoon

Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons

Coconut powder - 25 grams

Red chili - 1 teaspoon

Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon

Salt - 1 teaspoon

Sugar - 2 tablespoons

Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Oil - for frying

PREPARATION

(For Dough)

1. In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients and knead it into a smooth soft dough.

2. Rest the dough for 15 - 20 minutes.

(For Spice Mix)

1. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a pan, add 1 teaspoon cumin, 3 teaspoons fennel seeds, 2 teaspoons coriander seeds, 1/8 teaspoon asafoetida and stir well.

2. Add 2 tablespoons sesame seeds and roast for 2 - 3 minutes.

3. Then, add 25 grams coconut powder, 1 teaspoon red chili, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala, 1 teaspoon salt and mix well. Roast till it turns golden brown in color.

4. Now, add 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon lemon juice and mix well till the sugar is dissolved.

5. Transfer this mixture into a blender and blend well. Keep aside.

(Rest of the Preparation)

1. Divide the dough into equal portions.

2. Roll out the dough and flatten it with the help of a rolling pin.

3. Spread the prepared mixture on top of it.

4. Roll it into a cylindrical shape and cut it into pieces.

5. Heat sufficient oil in a heavy skillet and deep fry these till golden brown and crispy.

6. Serve hot.
