Goan Fish Curry

INGREDIENTS

Fish - 900 grams
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
Onions - 180 grams
Garlic cloves - 7
Green chili - 1 tablespoon
Dry red chili - 7
Cumin - 1 teaspoon
Coriander seeds - 4 teaspoons
Coconut - 40 grams
Tamarind paste - 40 grams
Water - 60 milliliters
Oil - 30 milliliters
Water - 500 milliliters
Coriander - for garnishing

PREPARATION


1. In a mixing bowl, add 900 grams fish, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric and mix it well.
2. Marinate for 15 minutes.
3. In a blender, add 180 grams onions, 7 garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon green chili, 7 dry red chili, 1 teaspoon cumin, 4 teaspoons coriander seeds, 40 grams coconut, 40 grams tamarind paste, 60 milliliters water and blend it into a paste.
4. Heat 30 milliliters oil in a heavy skillet, add the blended paste in it and mix it well.
5. Then, add the marinade fish and mix it well.
6. Cook for 5 - 7 minutes on medium heat.
7. Now, add 500 milliliters water and mix it well.
8. Cover it with lid and cook for about 10 minutes on medium heat.
9. Open the lid and give it a nice stir.
10. Remove it from heat.
11. Garnish with coriander.
12. Serve hot.
