Steamed Masala Vada

INGREDIENTS

Split Bengal gram - 45 grams

Split mung beans - 50 grams

Water - 500 milliliters

Coconut - 40 grams

Dry red chili - 2

Ginger - 1 teaspoon

Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon

Onions - 40 grams

Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons

Curry leaves - 8 - 10

Green chili - 1 teaspoon

Carom seeds - 1/4 teaspoon

Ghee - 1/2 teaspoon

Salt - 1 teaspoon

PREPARATION

1. In a bowl, add 45 grams split Bengal gram, 50 grams split mung beans, 500 milliliters water and soak for 3 hours.

2. In another mixing bowl, add 40 grams coconut, 2 dry red chili, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida, soaked dal and blend it until smooth.

3. Transfer blended mixture into the bowl, add 40 grams onions, 2 tablespoon coriander, 8 - 10 curry leaves, 1 teaspoon green chili, 1/4 teaspoon, 1/4 teaspoon carom seeds, 1/2 teaspoon ghee, 1 teaspoon salt and mix well to combine.

4. Take a small portion of mixture and make a circular shape.

5. Grease idli moulds with oil and put vada on it.

6. Place the idli stand in the pot and steam 10 - 12 minutes.

7. Serve.
