2 Ways Homemade Naan

 

Garlic Naan
Servings - 3 - 4



INGREDIENTS
Yeast - 2 teaspoons
Water - 45 milliliters
All purpose flour - 650 grams, divided
Cornmeal - 30 grams
Salt - 1 tablespoon
Lukewarm water - 750 milliliters
Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
Garlic - to taste
Green onions - to taste



PREPARATION


1. In a mixing bowl, add 2 teaspoons yeast, 45 milliliters water and whisk the yeast until it’s dissolved.
2. Add 400 grams all purpose flour, 30 grams cornmeal, 1 tablespoon salt and stir with a spoon until smooth.
3. Add 250 grams all purpose flour and stir again until well combined.
4. Add 750 milliliters of lukewarm water. Bring the mixture together and knead into a smooth soft dough. 
5. Cover the dough and let rise in a warm area for 2 hours or until doubled in size.
6. Brush the dough with 1 tablespoon olive oil.
7. Take a medium size ball from the dough. (see video)
8. Using your finger tips press each piece of dough into an oval shape about 8 inches long and 6 inches wide.
9. Sprinkle some minced garlic and green onions over the surface.
10. Heat a pan, place naan on it and cook on moderate heat for three minutes.
11. Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C. Bake for about 7 - 10 minutes, longer if you like more crusty.
12. Brush with butter.
13. Serve hot.
