INGREDIENTS
Split black gram (Urad dal) - 80 grams
Split bengal gram (Chana dal) - 80 grams
Hot water
Ghee - 2 tablespoons
Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
Onions - 60 grams
Ginger - 1 teaspoon
Garlic - 1/2 teaspoon
Green chili - 1 teaspoon
Tomato - 150 grams
Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
Red chili - 1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida - 1/8 teaspoon
Water - 750 milliliters
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
PREPARATION
1. Rinse and soak 80 grams split black gram (Urad dal) in enough hot water for 30 minutes.
2. Rinse and soak 80 grams split bengal gram (Chana dal) in enough hot water for 30 minutes.
3. Heat 2 tablespoons ghee in a skillet, add 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 60 grams onions and cook till they become translucent.
4. Add 1 teaspoon ginger, 1/2 teaspoon garlic, 1 teaspoon green chili and stir.
5. Add 150 grams tomato and cook till they get soft.
6. Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon red chili, 1/8 teaspoon asafoetida and mix well.
7. Add 80 grams split black gram (Urad dal), 80 grams split bengal gram (Chana dal), 750 milliliters water, 1 teaspoon salt and mix well.
8. Close the lid and cook it for about 10 - 15 minutes.
9. Add 1/2 teaspoon garam masala and mix well.
10. Garnish with coriander.
11. Serve hot with rotis.
