INGREDIENTS

Bottle gourd - 345 grams

Split bengal gram - 235 grams

Water - 500 milliliters

Oil - 2 tablespoons

Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon

Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon

Dry red chili - 2

Ginger - 1 teaspoon

Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon

Salt - 1 teaspoon

Red chili - 1/2 teaspoon

Water - 440 milliliters

Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon

Dry mango powder - 1 teaspoon

PREPARATION

1. Take 345 grams bottle gourd and cut it into small pieces.

2. In a mixing bowl, add 235 grams split bengal gram, 500 milliliters water and soak for 1 hour.

3. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pot, add 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida, 2 dry red chili and stir well.

4. Add 1 teaspoon ginger and saute for 2 - 3 minutes.

5. Then, add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric and stir well.

6. Now, add soaked split bengal gram and chopped bottle gourd. Mix it well.

7. Add 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon red chili and mix it again.

8. Now, add 440 mililiters water and stir well.

9. Cover it with lid and cook till you hear 1 whistle.

10. Add 1./2 teaspoon garam masala, 1 teaspoon dry mango powder and mix well. Cook for 5 - 7 minutes.

11. Serve hot with roti.
